Start of Tax Season! – IRS sets the date

Time for Taxes - Clock

The IRS has announced that it will start accepting most individual returns on January 30, 2013.  That is a little later than usual, due in large part to all of the programming and form changes resulting from the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.

Some forms that will require more extensive programming changes won’t be ready until mid-February or later.  These forms include Form 5695 (Residential Energy Credits), Form 4562 (Depreciation and Amortization) and Form 3800 (General Business Credit).  If you have a return that requires one of these forms, you will have to wait a little longer.  The IRS will announce specific dates later.
